Abstract

The peculiarities of microbial communities’ development in the Kazanka River lower reaches, depending on hydrochemical environmental factors, were studied in the summer of 2022. It was found that the water quality in terms of microbiological indicators was assessed as «slightly polluted» (class II). The ecological state of bottom sediments based on bacteriobenthos indicators was assessed as «normal» ‒ «state of risk». Concentrations of nitrogen compounds had the greatest influence on the development of bacterioplankton, which indicated the involvement of aquatic microorganisms in the nitrogen cycle in the river ecosystem. Changes in water hardness, concentrations of bicarbonates, calcium and magnesium also affected the structure of the microbial communities.
